The black swellings on a Mortarat's body are filled with a noxious bacterial soup. They secrete this mixture through their claws when they scratch their opponents.


Mortarat can jump surprising distances using their powerful hind legs. A pack of them can easily leap in front of fleeing prey and cut off any escape.
