A Halirth's flat body blends in almost perfectly with the sea floor, allowing them to remain hidden as they lie on their sides and wait for prey. The side with no eyes is much smoother and lighter, and they must take care to ensure that that side is not seen.
Anything that swims above a lurking Halirth is instantly snatched and devoured. They are completely blind on their smooth sides, however, and so fish that can move underneath Halirth as they swim can usually escape detection.
